Reading Rainbow, Blog Edition

You do remember the tv show, right? And who could forget LeVar Burton? I can still hear the intro song in my head with the little rainbows springing out of books and dancing across the screen.

Sadly, the show is off the air; however, reading recommendations need not end. My friend Verna is an educator who has a passion for literacy. From that vantage point, she writes the Reading Rainbow blog, reviewing literature that might not always get the mainstream attention it deserves. As she says, the blog is “a collection of children’s and young adult literature authored by individuals of color to provide meaningful and authentic cultural perspectives while building literacy and activism amongst young readers.” It’s the perfect resource to assist you in developing a more well-rounded library for the children in your life. Check it out!
