Playing for Change and perhaps Colour.

The premise for this foundation is what makes everything beautiful about humanity.  The first time I heard this song I cried.  I think I cried because every human longs for a connection with other people that unifies us with a deep sense of purpose and meaning.  Sometimes we over complicate our purpose with theology and philosophical ideas when maybe we as humans are at our best when we come together no matter what our background or culture. It is to simply be alive and revel in our humanity that binds us more strongly than we know.

The Inspiration

Playing for Change is a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. The idea for this project arose from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. No matter whether people come from different geographic, political, economic, spiritual or ideological backgrounds, music has the universal power to transcend and unite us as one human race. And with this truth firmly fixed in our minds, we set out to share it with the world.” (from website)

You absolutely captured the essence of why this music is so compelling. Each time I see and hear these musicians performing–often from disparate parts of the world–I’m overwhelmed by the sense of community that art can create. Thanks for reminding me.

I love Redemption Song! And that version of Stand by Me was awesome!
